Originally from Texas, Mark Wheaton started out as a writer on horror movies like Friday the 13th (2009), the Sam Raimi-produced The Messengers, and the Emilia Clarke-starring Voice from the Stone. In 2016-17, his three-book crime trilogy about a priest solving mysteries in Los Angeles came out from Thomas & Mercer. His first sci-fi novel, Emily Eternal, arrived from Grand Central Publishing in 2019 and was named one of the five Best Science Fiction Books of the Year by the Financial Times. His next book, The Quake Cities, arrives in 2021 from Severn House. He has also written for video games and co-created the Dark Horse comic, The Cleaners.
